I believe that when you entered this world you were a kind of Pure Being.
Oh, you may have brought some undesirable qualities with you that would show up later, but right at your beginning you were kind of pure.
Not only that but when God breathed his life into you he imbued you with countless hidden strengths, qualities and resources many of which have most probably remained hidden, masked by the onslaught of The System of Life.
If you can push the System to the side a little and get time for You, time to walk by a lake, by the sea, on the mountain. Time to sit in the forest and listen to the wind in the trees. Time to remember how life used to be when it was good. Time to remember how wonderful Nature is and time to immerse yourself in Nature a little, you will begin to change your perceptions about your life and your perspective of it.
Time to hug a tree.
Hug a tree? Me, hug a tree? Are you crazy?
Yes, I think I am, just a little and, to tell you the truth, I'm glad!
Did you ever really hug a tree? I mean just hang on to it and feel its presence and identify with it and be in awe of its sheer size and splendour (of course it has to be a big tree!). Or do you take trees for granted? They are just there aren't they? So what, they're just trees. That's all they are. They're just things.
Wrong.
Go hug a big tree and while you are doing so think on this. You are made up of DNA and the tree is made up of DNA, as is every living plant, it just happens to be in a different form to the one you were given, but you and the tree are the same, both DNA………. and both here for a reason.
The tree is beneficial to the atmosphere, it provides you with shade, cover from the rain, shelter from the wind and stands tall, like some sentinel on the landscape, always there for you to enjoy as it changes colour with the seasons or cloaks itself with snow. A tree is not something that you should take for granted. A tree is your friend.
I smile when I see trees, bushed, plants and flowers, because I know they are my friends, made of the same stuff as me, but in a different way, and that we share this planet together. I used to live amongst some of the biggest trees in Scotland and they gave me great calm, great perspective.
Go hug a tree and see how silly you feel after you have hugged it, identified with it and thought about it for a while.
It will most probably be here long after you and I have moved on out of this world. Still standing sentinel on the landscape.
All the time you are hugging a tree you are pushing the System of Life to one side and just thinking about this tree and your life as you probably haven't in a long, long time.
That is how you are going to be able to begin to tap into all those untold strengths and qualities that God imbued you with back when you were that Pure Being, by pushing the System aside and really getting back to the real You, so that you have time to think about things like:
Why am I really here?
What is my life really all about?
Is it really about what I'm doing at this time?
Or is it about something more?
Something different?
Something I haven't looked for yet?
I am glad this tree is here and that it has made me think.
Thank you, Lord.
When you start asking yourself those question in appreciation of the Nature all around you and your place within it, it will mean you have stopped the Noise, the Rush, the things that have been driving you down and, for a little while, you will have been getting back to You.
This is just one example of many I can give you as to how you take your life back and begin to move along your intended road and then you will find your true purpose.
